Week Five – Prepositions

For reviewing prepositions this week, I narrated a story in one sentence using our week 5 prepositions and asked my older guys to draw a new part to their picture with each part of the story.  First though, I asked my guys to pick an animal they wanted to draw.  My oldest, who really loves to draw, picked a squid. He also really loves squids, which incidentally worked as a perfect connection into talking about invertebrates. Love it when that happens!

Here’s my oldest looking up which type of squid he was drawing in a book about squids that we borrowed from the library.  He decided on a common squid, while younger brother decided on a colossal squid.

And here is one of the finished products (ta-da!) based on this sentence —

Beyond the coral reef, the common/colossal squid is between the rocks but by the goldfish and concerning himself with hiding in the cave from the shark.

They loved this quick and fun activity! I hope you’re enjoying reviewing prepositions this week too.
