My husband is a Philly area native and at a young age visited Independence Hall in Philadelphia. We’ve since taken our littles twice. But, at home we still use something he purchased on a trip there when he was a little boy. It’s a replica of the Declaration of Independence. We read it this week, made observations about the signatures, paper, style, etc. It was fun to see the differences and discuss a bit about the drafting process of the Second Continental Congress. I love that my children will have access to documents, such as these, simply because they have learned (or are learning) to write and read cursive. Remember, so much about learning classically, is giving our children the skills to continue learning – cursive among them.
