Here we go! The first week! I know some of you in other parts of the country have already begun, but we’re just about to embark on our first week. I’m hoping to get a few weeks ahead of our schedule here, so if you want to follow the same plans as us, you can!
This year I have a seven (nearly eight) year old, six year old, and four year old in CC classes. I’ll be reviewing all of the memory work with them together. I do my best to choose activities which can be tailored to be a bit harder for my seven year old and a bit easier for my four year old. My littles are super competitive (in practically everything), so I want our schoolwork to be as cooperative as possible. We’re on the same team, learning together.
History – We’ll play “pass the crown” with our homemade lace crowns, as each of us says one word of the history sentence until we have it memorized.
Latin – Review using the Latin pronounciation helps. After some practice as a group, I’ll cover different parts of the page to see what each of my littles can recall.
English – I’m going to draw speech bubbles on my chalkboard with a part of speech written in each one for my littles to copy into their notebooks. I’ll make a paper copy for my littlest guy to trace with my help.
Math – Using a dot marker, they’ll each mark the 2s on a hundred number chart. If time allows, I’ll work with my four year old to match up two of “every kind of animal” on their way into the ark. Then we’ll count them to twenty-four.
Science – We’ll read in our Creation Science curriculum and complete the work in our Wisdom and Righteousness lapbook.
Geography – Using blackline maps from our CC community, we’ll mark our maps with chocolate chips. We’ll also practice continent blobbing.
Fine Arts – As suggested in the Fine Arts section of the Foundations guide, I’m going to give my guys a simple animal to copy. I’ll probably sketch it on our chalkboard. In six weeks, we’ll repeat that same animal again to compare with their first.
You can look at our schedule to see the time we dedicate to each subject.
