History – Read about Constantine together. Ask littles to tell me something they learned during this reading, which I will then transcribe for them. We will add this to their notebooks.
Latin – Using handwritten notecards, put the 5th declension latin noun endings in order.
English – Create a story using all prepositions and hand motions – mad lib group style. I’ll say something like this — A bunny is finding shade under a _____ (dramatic pause – child 1 fills in the blank), but wait he’s going underneath _____ (let next child fill in the blank) and I don’t think he will come out until ______ (child 3 fills in). Eek! He’s going up ______ (etc) ! I hope he doesn’t land upon _____ (etc)! Because turns are a big deal among the littles’ crowd, I’ll let my 3rd child finish our story with one final sentence. Doesn’t this sound fun?
Science – Visit a florist shop or garden store. Allow each child to pick one flower to purchase and bring home to sketch. Label parts of the flower. (The flower pictured above it the Pennsylvania state flower, the Mountain Laurel.)
Math – Make cubes out of paper and allow littles to number each side.
Geography – Read about the Byzantine Empire here – activity ideas too.
Fine Art – Practice the tin whistle!
