Today we had time for some abstract art that we didn’t fit in last week. This is not a new or original idea, but it is a fun one! We put a piece of card stock in a dish with sides, rolled a marble in paint (as seen above), and proceeded to rock the dish around in our hands. This sent the marble rolling around the dish and over the paper leaving trail marks of paint. So fun! My littles reloaded and rolled their marbles to their heart’s content.
These beautiful paintings were the result. Aren’t they great? The littles were quite proud of their work and so am I. Afterward, one did tell me he prefers realistic art. I think I agree, but either way, I’m glad he knows the difference. and I did encourage him to give abstract art more of a chance!
p.s. – We’ve done this before by rolling matchbox cars through paint. I’ve also seen it done with plastic eggs in spring. Use your imagination or whatever you have close at hand! Happy painting!
