Travel: Indianapolis, Indiana

We’re so excited to hit all “Fifty States Before They Graduate.”  We love to travel anyway, so this goal was immediately appealing to us.  One way we’ve decided to make this more feasible for our family is to plan stops in a new state with every trip we take.  We have family spread around the country, so we take trips to a few states a couple times a year anyway.  Previously, we would just rush through every other state on the way to our destination.  No more! Now, the ride is part of the trip! I love googling ideas and checking trip advisor for stops that will appeal to our family. My husband is such a natural adventurer that he’s always game. And our littles are excellent travelers!

First stop – we hit the streets of downtown Indianapolis on foot – the best way to see any city! The weather was beautiful and we loved it!

We stumbled on some impressive sights, including the Indiana War Memorial

and this beautiful Scottish Rite Cathedral. We had lunch in the city before heading to our feature stop – the Indianapolis Motor Speedway and Hall of Fame Museum.

Our guys are big car fans, so we knew they would be impressed with all the race cars.  Besides seeing so many historic cars, we saw a short video about the history of the speedway – really interesting!

And took a tour on the actual racetrack.  This was perhaps their favorite part, although they were wishing the tour was in a race car and not a bus.  I kind of agree!

Next stop – Chicago, Illinois! Stay tuned for the post with details…

and please, leave any trip suggestions here! We’d love to hear them!
