What We're Doing – Week Five Links

Our campus has this week off due to our facility’s schedule.  At home, we’ll be focusing on our other curriculum, reviewing all memory work, and perhaps doing a few projects we didn’t get around to yet.  But, I know many of you are probably meeting as usual, so I wanted to share my week 5 links anyhow.

History    – Roman Empire Split info

                 – Punic Wars & Hannibal Info

Science   – Bill Nye Invertebrate Video Part 1Part 2Part 3

               – DIY sea jelly in a bottle

                 – Invertebrate/Vertebrate sorting

                  – Invertebrate Insects and Aquatic Cards

Math       – Hundreds Chart

Geography  – Nile River Delta model

For history, I’ll be reading the info to my littles and asking them to tell me something that stood out to them as interesting during the reading.  I’ll write out what they say and include it in their notebooks.  This is an early writing activity designed to help them formulate their thoughts.

I have not watched all of the Bill Nye videos, so please screen them for your family.  I’m excited about all of the science resources for this week!

And finally, for geography, I’m thinking we must do this model!  My boys have turned on the hose several times to flood a channel in our backyard in hopes of creating their own Nile.  I love them for it, but I don’t really want my yard turned into a swamp.  Perhaps this model will be a happy compromise?  Here’s hoping!

When we do week 5 and complete other projects, I’ll share them!

P.S. – Be on the lookout for upcoming posts with peeks into different ways we organize our schooling at home!
