Growing up, the mom from this family and her sister were those cool, nice, older girls at school who I looked up to. They were smart and interesting, they loved God and loved people. At the time, I didn’t realize how important it was to have peer role models like that. Now, here we are, many years later, and we’re all homeschooling. So fun!
The Ahrens family from Northern Virginia visited the commemoration of the 200th anniversary of the Battle of Bladensburg during the War of 1812 in August. The Flat Littles went along for the event. Check out this link for a video to learn more about the Battle of Bladensburg. It’s a fascinating battle that through the unfortunate defeat of the Americans allowed the British soldiers to continue on to Washington, D.C. where they burned many government buildings including the U.S. Capitol and The White House.
