My Top 5 Favorite CC Products – Review & Giveaway!

{ UPDATE: Bridgette Stowe Silvas, you are the winner! Congrats! Thanks to everyone who entered and shared with me their favorite CC products! Happy Cycle 3 planning! }

Here we are ending one cycle and preparing to begin another one in the fall.  I bet you’re registering for practicum and making your wish list of items to purchase at the book sale?  Perhaps evaluating what you used this year and deciding which items you’ll purchase again?  Me too! So, I thought it would be a good time to share my favorite Classical Conversations products with you.

Before I start though, you should know there are only two things you need to buy to participate in Foundations –

1. The Foundations Curriculum Guide

2. One tin whistle for each of your students.

If you have extra space in your budget and home, these are the items I love and purchase to use with my family at home —

1. Timeline cards: AKA Classical Acts & Facts History Cards.  There are four sets, Ancient World, Medieval World, New World, and Modern World.  All four sets are used in entirety with each cycle. We use these flashcards to review the timeline work at home, but my littles also LOVE just flipping through and looking at the cards.  The cards hold such great information: event title, event description, occurrence of event on historical timeline, location of event on world map, and an image that ties in to the event.

2. Memory flashcards: I grab my little ring of flashcards almost daily to review with my guys.  Their size makes them convenient to take anywhere and the different colored cards easily inspire various review games.

3. Audio CDs: One of my guys learns very quickly through music, although they all benefit greatly from reviewing this way.  This is also one of the easiest ways for us to regularly review, especially for those times when I cannot take an active role.  Before each cycle begins, we (my husband) actually make our own custom playlist by combining the music from the CDs with additional memory work music. It works great!

4. Geography Trivium Tables: By getting at least one of these for each cycle, you avoid the worry of whether or not the map you’re using at home matches up exactly with the CC geography memory work. We buy one of these for me, while my littles use larger maps from our CC community for review.  I always need the answers so the trivium table is a big help for me.  As my littles get older, I’m sure I’ll use the trivium tables for all of them.

5. Prescripts: This was our first year using Prescripts and we all love them! I love how they incorporate the classic task of copywork with the CC memory work and art lessons.  They’ll surely be a regular part of our homeschool from now on.

I also purchase the Classical Acts & Facts Science cards each year, but I wouldn’t say they’re used regularly enough to be on our favorites list.  I think the older my guys get the more we’ll use these. They’re our go-to source for additional information on the science sentences. I like that they’re a trustworthy, solid base for scientific truth. Have y’all seen the new
Classical Acts & Facts Artists & Composers Cards in the catalog?  I am really excited to see them at my practicum this year and I’m sure they will be in my stack as I check-out!

Good news – I’m not just telling you about my favorites, I’m hosting a giveaway for most of them too! One reader will win the cycle 3 memory flashcards, cycle 3 audio cds, cycle 3 geography trivium table, and Prescripts: Cursive Sentences and Art Lessons: American History thanks to the generosity of Classical Conversations.  I’m so excited! Enter below, cross your fingers, and share with your CC community!

I love CC Connected. I’ve made playlists from the audio files I’ve downloaded (which include more than what is available on the audio CDs) and we take them with us wherever we go. I

We use CC Connected extensively. My kids will get online to flip through the powerpoint each week. I also download various songs on an mp3 player to listen that way.

We just completed our first year of CC with my 10 yr old DD with only the tin whistle and some information on CC connected. I bought the veritas cards before realizing they were different. I am definitely getting the timeline cards this year and I want to get the audio cds as well. If we have money in the budget this year I will also get the prescripts. Thanks for the chance at this giveaway.

I borrowed the timeline cards for the first 12 weeks and my daughter loved them. I am really looking forward to adding those cards and the Prescript books this year. My shopping list keeps growing! 🙂

  10. says

I have and use the audio CDs in the minivan. We have to drive at least 20 minutes anywhere we go, so on the way to piano lessons, gymnastics and other events we get our weekly memory work.

What an awesome giveaway – thank you! We love the CD and look forward to checking out prescripts!

  12. Stephanie says

This is going to be our first year, so just getting started! I am sure the audio CD will be a huge hit here!

  13. says

I like the audio CDs too. They make it easy to practice the memory work while you’re driving around in the car. I would have liked the memory flashcards for use as a tutor.

  14. says

We have been apart of CC for 4 years now. My oldest just finished his fourth year in Challenge (he just completed Ch II). We love ALL of your favorites. I will say that the Science cards WILL be of a much greater value to you as your kiddo’s get older! We have them out constantly! The Geography helps they added over the past two years have been probably my favorites! Thank you for all of your encouragement! You are a blessing!

How exciting! Thank you for the giveaway! I LOVE the Audio CD! It’s been our favorite since our first year in CC! Hope to win this year’s instead of having to purchase! 😀

  16. says

Favorite is a hard one. The Foundations guide is what sold me on CC. I love it. I consider the CDs essential so my kids can learn the songs. So my favorite “extra” product is the geography trivium table. I do love all of the products though

  17. Tracy O. says

I love the History cards and the Geography Trivium tables. I would love to get some of those review cards, though!

Oh, Melissa, I wonder why? If you’d like, you can still try now. If you hover above any of the pictures in the post, you’ll get the option to “pin” the article. It’ll go right to your pinterest account to pin. Once pinned, copy & paste the pin url for entry. Hope this helps!

Every year I wonder if I really need to spend $10 on Trivium tables, but last year I discovered that they are one of my favorite products from Classical Conversations. I love the Geography tables for review at home, and I’m looking forward to getting a copy of the Rhetoric Trivium Tables because I think it will improve my personal writing.

  19. says

I’m back to CC after a 3 year break and need all the updated products! so much has changed, and I especially like the precepts handwriting!

  20. says

I am so thankful that I am part of a CC community it has been a great blessing for my family. I really enjoy using the Audio CD’s, I used the prescripts this year and think they are great way to get copy work done and review CC material at the same time. Thanks for the opportunity to win and your generosity.

Our favorite? That’s a toss-up between the geography trivium tables, the flashcards, and the resource cd. Probably the resource cd.

  22. says

My favorite CC product to use at home so far has been the timeline cards. My son is only 6, but he is always really interested in the pictures on each card and they have often inspired a more in-depth conversation about the timeline! I would love to try out the memory flashcards this year!

  23. says

I love the flashcards – they are a necessity during memory master time! And while this isn’t a product, I couldn’t live without CC Connected! Thanks for the giveaway!

  24. Anonymous says

I like our Audio CD’s…I find my girls singing the tunes at bedtime after I tucked them in already. I love hearing them sing the different songs.

  25. says

This is our first year with CC and so far other than the necessary items we haven’t really been able to buy the extras yet except the cycle 2 geography trivium table. Which we love! For a long time we just used a black line, the nice wipe off surface and colored map makes it so much nicer. I am plannin to get the cds and other tables this year for sure but probably will have to wait another year to get the other items you mention although we would love to have them now.

  26. says

Although we use and love all of these CC resources, I think our favorite is the audio CD! It makes learning the memory work so much easier!

  27. Anonymous says

Our favorite is definitely the Audio CDs. Thank you for hosting such a wonderful giveaway!

  28. says

I know this is going to sound dorky but I really think the Foundations Guide is wonderful. It has so much information packed in there! Would love to win the Cycle 3 bundle to use in our 2nd year of Classical Conversations!

  29. Janette R says

My favorite is the history sentence put to music. Makes memorizing so much easier for me.

    • says

Although, if I must pick one other than my Foundations guide, the Classical Acts and Facts Cards. LOVE the details and all the ways to use them…

  30. Breanne says

We’re new to CC, but I’m looking forward to using the memory work CDs. Thanks for the opportunity to win!

  31. NMills says

My favorite CC resource is CC connected. I download a ton of stuff and don’t buy the cd cause I can get mp3s.

  32. says

I actually love downloading the files from CC Connected straight to my ipod, as well as using the CC app with my kids. My oldest son LOVES the Acts & Facts cards and pores through them regularly.

  33. says

Thank you! We couldn’t do CC without the CDs 🙂 Today, my son passed the MM proofing for C2, and sang his heart out with all of the catchy tunes he hears regularly in our car while we drive around town through the week. 🙂

  34. says

History timeline cards – Great quick and easy resource when you have never heard of something mentioned in the timeline.

  35. says

I love the Timeline Cards the best….but love them all, and would love to use Prescripts for the first time if I win (or if I don’t….I might have to anyway)!

  36. says

Although I did not like the initial price tag and lack of review games like the free Quizlet, I have to admit that one of my most used resources is the App for Ipad. It is great for review in the car.

  37. says

We use the timeline cards and audio cds most, as well. I’m intrigued by the Trivium Tables, though, and I’m seriously considering ordering the new Artist/Composer Fact Cards. Also, I haven’t been able to get the Pin option to work, either. It doesn’t show an image, and when it finally did let me go to Pinterest, told me it wasn’t a valid image. Thanks for this opportunity!

  38. Anna says

The audio CD is my favorite. It makes things so much easier to learn when it coming out of someone’s mouth other than mine.

  39. says

My favorite resources are the CD’s we make ourselves from CC connected with all the extra songs others have shared for us to use! Also like the lapbooks from Wisdom and Righteousness!

Beth I am new to CC, I just recently began Homeschooling my 11 year old son. He has Down Syndrome and a wonderful mother
in the New York area said CC has done wonders for her daughter. I am really excited to see what God has planned for my little guy.

  42. says

our fav is the resource CD – my hubby makes it into a smooth running power point and puts it on the ipad for easy review

  43. says

My fave “at home” product is the geo map. It’s great to grab it, gather the kids around, and regularly review all our former and current geo.

  44. says

We loved the CDs last year as our only ‘extra’ item. My daughter was SO interested in looking at the tutor’s timeline cards though and the extra info would have been wonderful! I really hope we are able to win or afford them along with the review cards etc! Looking forward to streamlining our 2nd year! Thanks for the opportunity! What a blessing!

Last year was our first year in CC and I only had the audio Cd’s. I loved them. I am looking to purchase other products for next year so this a helpful post.

We have not started CC yet. We will be new to homeschooling next year. However, I have seen the timeline cards and think they are awesome!

  47. says

I’m torn between saying audio cds and the flipcards. I guess I’ll pick the flipcards because I use them so much for review games as a tutor and at home, and I have to supplement the audio cds with songs from CC Connected.

  48. says

I’ve only participated in an open house at a CC co-op. I’m in the process of joining one of the local cc co-ops for this coming year and I’m so excited. As far as stuff I’ve used from CC, I had only used the pre-scrips and I like the sentences and the passages books. I do not like the letters one at all.

We LOVE the audio cds! We have downloaded them onto our computer, then ipod and phones! We have them everywhere we go!

  53. says

The songs found on CC Connected and Memory Work Tutorial! I also use many of the printables and history cards on a trifold which hangs on our wall. What a joy it has been to be part of CC (our first year was a blast)! 🙂

  60. says

We love the memory work cards for fun review time and they are easy to take with us too. We loved the cds until someone bumped a table they were on and we lost them in the recycle bin 🙁 It would be awesome to win this for my kids. Not to mention, we have the old guide with the cut and paste updates too. Would love to have the current edition. Thank you!

  61. says

Since my family is new to CC (we will be starting in the fall) I do not have a favorite but I am going to guess that it will be the timeline cards. They were excited when looked at a friends.

  63. says

We took a year off of CC and I am SO EXCITED to be back this Cycle, it was the WORST decision I made… Our favorite resource outside the manual is the Audio CD, my children thrive on learning by music! Thank you so much for your wonderful blog, it has been so helpful to me!

  64. says

Well our family is so new but so far I have my Foundations book and I got an open hanging file box with 24 file folders for the 24 weeks and now I am collecting over the summer any resources that will help for next year. When I find something that correlates I place it in the file box. Super excited about CC!

Audio CDs by far are the best for my family! They still ask for cycle 2 in the car even through our community has been over for 3 weeks!-JKyzar

This will be our first year officially in CC, but this past year we used the Cycle 1 Audio in the car on a daily basis and I can’t believe how much my kids learned!!

My favorite CC products are probably the audio cds… learning while we drive is great! All of the reference cards are great too… so much info!

  68. says

We use the CDs mostly. I have been wanting to try the memory cards, but have not yet. Maybe this year. I love the idea of having something that you can easily take with you and make a game out of it. 🙂 I am glad I found your website. Thank you!

  69. says

Our subscription to CC Connected gets used the most at our home! I wish they would make the app available before late Oct/Nov… I’m never willing to pay for only a partial year (we begin the 1st week in August).
