Martin Luther King, Jr. Day – Printables & Ideas

Last minute planning finds me preparing to highlight Martin Luther King Jr. Day at my home tomorrow. I do not want my littles to miss out on these special days simply because they are not part of our regular curriculum.  Maybe you’re the same as me?  If so, here are some simple, but meaningful ideas you could do with your littles tomorrow!

1) The picture above is from the Kingfisher History Encyclopedia which has a 2 page spread on Civil Rights.  We’ll be reading that tomorrow.

2) We’ll watch the iconic I Have a Dream speech by Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.

3) We’ll complete this acrostic together as a family.  This will give me time to review what we’ve read and watched to see what they do or do not understand.  It will also give me a chance to share about these issues in my own words and from the Bible.

4) *If* we have time, stop at our public library which usually has a great display to highlight books on topic.

5) Color this picture while planning for random acts of kindness we can complete throughout the week.

What about you? What are your plans for this special day?
