Foundations Guide Updates

3rd Edition, anyone?

Okay, so along with my husband, I decided to keep my 3rd edition Foundations Guide that served our family well last year.  Which meant, I spent my Friday night adding updates to the grammar.  If you’re keeping your 3rd edition too, be encouraged! It didn’t take long at all.  Some I simply penned in, because they were minimal changes.  While others, I printed, cut, & affixed to my guide. To make it even easier for you, here’s the link for the updates directly from Classical Conversations —

I did the same thing. Considering that I rarely used the guide, and utilized the flashcards much more, I couldn’t justify the cost of buying the 4th edition.

Same for me, Christy! I use the flashcards so much more! My hubs said he would do the work for me (if I wanted) & his hourly rate is less than the cost of a new edition. πŸ™‚ haha!

I bought the Memory Cd and used the Memory Masters Notebook file for printing updates in the same format as the guide onto 8.5×11 labels. It worked great! Last year was our first year with CC and so my guide was brand new and barely used. Now that I have spent time updating I plan to use it more this year. lol.

I printed the pages out and cut/pasted them in the appropriate areas. My handwriting isn’t the greatest and I like the cohesive look. It took me a little over an hour and I’m pleased with the results.

Does anyone know how often they revise their materials? I am considering starting my 1st grader and 3 year old but am concerned about how often u are supposed to update…Thanks, Julie

Julie, they do generally update the material every 3 years or so. However, they’ve already said the material will not be updated for this year or next year (which begins again with cycle 1). When they do update the materials, the revisions are provided free to those who already purchased the past edition.

I’m with Carol! I spent so much time searching on CC’s site & when I finally did find the links, they didn’t work!! I found you via Google as well. Thank you so much!!! This is not only our first year with CC, but our first year homeschooling. I am both terrified & excited!

what are the history card changes.. like from veritas press to the new ones.. are they the same numbers?

    • Beth Watson says

Hi Breanna! I don’t think the numbers are the same since the cards are all new. I didn’t actually update that in my guide, so I can’t be sure.

Where is the best place to get used CC? We are financially in a hardship right now. Any advise on how I could get started would be wonderful. Thanks in advance

Have you tried Leigh’s List? I’ve heard you can purchase used guides on Ebay and on FB pages, like Classical Conversations Curriculum Exchange. Also, sometimes a family moving up in CC will sell or gift their old guides to younger families. I hope you’re able to find what you need for a good price. Keep in mind, it does help that you only need to buy the guide once then you can use it for all your children for all 3 cycles.

It seems like you posted this a few years ago? Are you still using your 3rd edition? I found a cheap 3rd ed. and would rather do the work and save the money buy pasting in the changes. Is the link above still current or have things changed from that?
